Free class attendance tracking template
If you track attendance on paper today, a simple spreadsheet is a real step up. This free template tracks who came to each class and how many classes each student has left in their pack, and it highlights anyone who is about to run out.
It opens in Excel, Google Sheets (File → Import) and Numbers.
How to use it
- Put the class name in the title and one student per row.
- Enter each student’s pack size — for example 10.
- Write the class dates across the top row.
- Type 1 under a date when the student attends.
- The Classes left column works itself out, and turns orange at 2 or fewer.
Tips that make it work
- One sheet per class. Duplicate the tab for each regular class.
- Fill it in the room. Attendance filled in later is attendance half-remembered.
- Check the orange cells every morning. That’s your renewal list for the day.
- Start a new row for a new pack so history stays readable.
When a spreadsheet stops being enough
A template works well for one teacher and a few classes. It gets hard when several teachers need the same list, students attend different classes on one pack, or parents want to know whether their child came. That’s when a shared app saves more time than it costs.
